First, let’s talk about their sweet options. That Pie Place has pies and tarts with all sorts of different flavours. Apple, Peach, Blueberry, Strawberry… all the fruit pies you’d ever want are here. If you feel like getting a lighter, less fruity option, why not try some tarts? Their Butter Tarts can be topped with Raisin or Pecan, and their Coconut Raspberry flavour is simply delicious!

Next, let’s talk about That Pie Place’s savoury options. There’s quite a few, including pot pies, shepherd’s pies, steak pies, and Tourtiere. These pies all filled to the brim with savoury goodness exploding with flavour. The flaky, crispy crust is at a perfect ratio with the filling. Definitely try their steak pies if you’re a fan of meat pies.

Finally, we have their quiches. That Pie Place’s quiches are very customisation. First, choose a base of either leek or onion. After, you can choose a protein of chicken, bacon, or ham. Finally, choose some vegetables and a type of cheese. All of the ingredients you’ve picked are put into a flaky crust with heavy cream poured in and baked. Your quiche will be ready fresh from the oven.

Cheesecake is smooth and sweet delicacy with defined flavours that will melt on your tongue. It’s not just a type of cake, it deserves its own category of dessert. Laila’s Cheesecake Company strives to master this category.

You can find cheesecakes in both 6” and 9” sizes at Laila’s Cheesecake Company. There are a dozen different flavours to choose from, including cookie flavours, fruity flavours, and nutty flavours. Our favourites at Look Local are their salted caramel flavour as shown in the image below. The layer of caramel is plentiful without overriding the cheesecake itself while also complimenting the cookie base.

There are a lot of great flavours, and it may be too much for customers to pick just one. That’s a common issue, but luckily Laila’s Cheesecake Company has come up with the perfect fix! Introducing Laila’s assorted flavour boxes, consisting of 6 square cheesecake bars, each one unique. Now, you and you’re family won’t have to argue over which flavour to order, just get them all!

If you’re looking for a smaller portion just for yourself, try Laila’s cheesecake jars! These personal cheesecakes are baked into a mason jar with a size choice of 4 ounces or 8 ounces. The same flavours available for regular cheesecakes are also available for these mason jars. We’re highlighting their red velvet flavour in the image below, which is extra tender and tastes just illustrious. If you like red velvet, and you like cheese cake, this is a must try!

Sakai is a Japanese restaurant within the hustle and bustle of Fairview Street. Most famous for their Sashimi, it’s a paradise for those who love raw fish.

In case you didn’t know, there are three main types of sushi – Sashimi, Nigiri, and Maki. Sashimi is a fresh cut of raw fish by itself. Nigiri is a thinner cut of raw fish over a tuft of sticky rice. Maki is the sushi that most people would be most familiar with. Maki means ‘to roll’. That’s exactly what happens to small slices of fish and vegetables wrapped in rice and then again in seawood. Sakai offers all three of these main sushi variations in superb quality.

Sashimi is Sakai’s strong suit. Freshly caught fish from all over the world are sliced perfectly and served on a plate. Sakai’s Sashimi is delicate, delightful, and delicious, you’d be able to tell just by looking at it. Look at how perfect the cuts of Bluefin Tuna are in the image below – amazing!

There’s nothing like a fresh slice of fish over rice. The rice brings out the fish’s flavour in full capacity so that you can taste the entire ocean in your mouth. Just like Sashimi, all types of delicious seafood – not just fish – is available to order, such as eel or tiger shrimp. Try their Yellow Snapper Nigiri shown in the image above or their Salmon Nigiri shown in the image below.

Since Sakai excels in raw fish, Maki isn’t exactly Sakai’s strong suit. However, they still have several delicious options to suit your taste. If you’re looking for basic boring options like the California roll, they don’t do that here. Instead, they have explosively delicious rolls such as their Volcano Maki. This roll has spicy tuna and avocado topped with butterfish and roe. An incredible option if you’d prefer not to directly eat raw fish.

Most customers want a little bit of Sashimi, a little bit of Nigiri, and maybe a little bit of Maki, too! Because of the variety, Sashimi Platters are Sakai’s most popular option. If you’re not sure what to include on your platter, you could order the chef’s choice and he’ll pick out 48 pieces of his final selection.

Jerk chicken is famous for its deliciously blended flavour. An authentic Jamaican dish, a piece of thigh and drumstick is thrown into a perfect blend of seasonings and then slow-cooked over pimento wood. Jusjerk Caribbean Restaurant’s mission is to bring this amazing cuisine from the beaches of Jamaica to Burlington.

Jerk seasoning turns an originally bland tasting chicken into an incredibly abundant blend of flavours. This style of preparing chicken is famous because of that taste. But, what if I told you that it’s not just chicken which holds that flavour? That’s right, the image below is Jusjerk’s jerk pork. The classic jerk rub usually infused onto the meat of chicken has now been applied to pork.

When it comes to Caribbean foods, jerk chicken would be the first things you’d think of. The second thing you’d think of would probably be rice & peas. Below is Jusjerk’s Rice & Peas with Goat Curry. The curry enhances the rice so that every bite is to savour. This is a must try if you’re a fan of curry.

Jamaican Patties are flaky, buttery, and jam-packed with savoury meats inside. It’s a perfect meal if you’re looking for something to take on the go for a quick lunch. Jusjerk’s patties are made fresh out of the oven to give you that fresh taste with a crisp crust and a flavourful filling.
