Nostalgia Latin Market is home to all sorts of authentic Latin-American foods. Acting as a source for both ready-to-eat meals and ingredients for you to work at home, Nostalgia is a great place to experience the wonders of Mexican gourmet.

Acting as a grab-and-go food market, you’re sure to be able to find some deliciously convenient snacks & appetisers at Nostalgia. Why not try their empanadas for that perfect golden crust? Or, you could try their tamales to get some of that hot & savoury flavour. They’re fresh and ready for you to grab away.

Of course, nostalgia isn’t just a take-out restaurant. They have quick the nice atmosphere inside for you to dine-in. Since it’s a market, the interior is loaded with items, but there is a section full of tables for you to sit at. While you’re there, you should order some of their taco kits. Chips, salsa, tortillas, chilorio, and as many ingredients as you’d like can be bought in store for you to enjoy.

A must try at Nostalgia are their Birria Tacos, as shown in the picture above. First, a stew is made with chillies, tomatoes, and way too many spices to count. Beef or goat is then boiled in this stew and then taken out as tender as a cheesecake. This meat is then put into a tortilla which has been dipped in the stew on then pan-seared. What you get is a crispy taco absolutely bursting with spicy flavours.

Nostalgia is incredibly passionate in spreading Latin American culture, so if you end up liking the foods they make, they offer cooking classes so you can make them at home. Ingredients can be bought in their store, and they’ll be more than happy to show you around. For more information, we have linked their website in this article.

Narenj is a classy Persian cafe with a soothing botanical atmosphere. It should be easy to spot since it’s a much more refined-looking establishment compared to the rest of Kerr Street. With their wide selection of breakfasts, brunch, and pastries, a good time at Narenj will have you feeling like a whole new person.

Brunch at Narenj will have you ready to take on the day. Their croissants are made with halva, which is a thick Persion confection made from Tahini. Halva is baked into the croissant to give it a rich, nutty sweetness. It’s the perfect wake-up pastry, so why not pair it with the perfect wake-up drink? Their original Narenj Tea is served with a crystallised saffron sugar-stick intended to stir your tea. As it dissolves, a beautiful aroma is produced.

Shakshouka is a delightfully savoury dish made from poaching a healthy amount of eggs in a special tomato sauce. It’s also the main course of Narenj’s brunches. Shakshouka is always served with either pita or bread, since it acts as a sort of dip. Their original shakshouka has 3 poached eggs in their eggs topped with pickles and zaatar. However, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could try their Brisket Shakshouka topped with pomegranate molasses, fried halloumi and beef brisket.

Got a sweet tooth? Narenj has an amazing lineup of handmade pastries perfect to go with your tea, or as dessert. Check out their creamy Strawberry Tart as shown in the picture below.

If you simply can’t get enough of their pastries, you can order curbside pickup. A box containing an assortment of pastries will be prepared, ready for you to enjoy at home.

Narenj isn’t only for brunch! They also have an exclusive menu only available after 1 PM. This menu contains Persian sandwiches, salads, and loaded plates. Additionally, they had Afternoon High Tea on Sundays. This fancy weekly event is in a proper setting, with delightful tea, pastries, and savoury bites. Additionally, music will be performed by local artists. It’s quite the delightful experience.

Anna Cakes turns baking into an art. At this Kerr Village gem, customers order custom cakes with particular designs. What they get back is a delicious piece of edible creativity which takes hours of effort to make. It takes tons of talent to make detailed cakes from scratch, with each one looking entirely different than the last.

Below are just a few of their beautiful custom cakes.

Kerr Street Café offers a calming environment for all customers to sit, relax, and enjoy some top-notch coffee. If you’re looking for a place to sit down and loosen up, this Café is definitely for you.

Kerr Street Café’s freshly blended coffee has the perfect taste and texture to get yourself ready for the day. From Espressos, to Cortados, to Capuccinos, every drink you could ask for is here at your disposal.

What better to pair your coffee with then some fluffy pancakes? Kerr Street Café specialises in brunch, and one of their best items are these Ricotta Pancakes. Topped with Blueberry Compote, Bee Pollen, Maple Syrup and Whipped Mascarpone Cream, this is a delightfully sweet start to your day.

If you’re more of a French Toast guy than a Pancakes guy, then have we got the treat for you. Kerr Street Café’s french toast consists of Challah Bread and topped with Vanilla Bean Custard, Strawberry Jam, Toasted Almonds, Whipped Cream and Maple Syrup. This may not melt in your mouth as much as the pancakes, but it sure will come with an enormous amount of flavour! The absolute sweet tooth paradise.

The Weekender is a special sandwich only available on weekends. For good reason, as this sandwich is just too good to be enjoyed on a work day. A Runny Egg, Bacon, Sausage Patty, and Hash Brown are all put in between a perfectly toasted potato bun.

What makes this sandwich special is their ‘Secret Sauce’ that they put on it. There not open to say what exactly is in this sauce, so you’re in for a pleasant surprise once you take the first bite!

French Lunch is a vibrant bistro full of unique flavours. It’s perfect for a lunchtime pit stop.

French Lunch is full of great starters, including a classic French Onion Soup ($9), as well as a Salad Lyonnaise ($17). These pair nicely with their quiches and sandwiches, like the Croque Monsieur ($17) which includes toasted bread, ham, a variety of cheeses, mixed greens, and house vinaigrette. We also recommend their Quiche Lorraine ($14) consisting of bacon, leek, Gruyere cheese and mixed greens.

French Lunch also carries a range of carefully crafted sweet and savoury crepes. Savoury palates will enjoy the Completé ($17), which is a crepe consisting of ham, cheese, egg. Sweet crepes ($9 + toppings) can be customized with toppings of your choosing, like strawberries and Nutella.

Along with crepes, you can also find french toast at French Lunch. These fluffy, eggy, delightful morsels are dripping with syrup and topped with fruit. You can even add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra $3.

Maro’s Bistro is an outstanding Middle Eastern restaurant at the foot of Kerr Street. Originally started as a Shawarma spot, Maro’s Bistro has evolved into an extensive eatery that will surprise you with exquisite flavours from the Middle East.

The dishes are packed with as much colour as there is flavour. The Maro’s Special, consisting of chicken, beef or lamb on a bed of Persian saffron rice drizzled with Tahini is no exception.

‘Here Comes the Bride’, seen below, has fillets of Basa Fish that are marinated in a bountiful amount of spices. The fish is then fried and tossed with onions and peppers, and served on a bed of creamy Baba Ghaboush.

‘Bella and the Beast’ is another classic on the menu, and one of the most popular vegetarian options. That crispy brown goodness below is Maro’s signature fried cauliflower. This cauliflower will melt in your mouth after the first crunch, and is served on top of Moroccan couscous salad. A hefty amount of hummus is served on the side for you to dip the cauliflower to your heart’s content.

Finally, we have the ‘Babel’. Expertly barbecued minced beef and Lebanese garlic potatoes is sauteed with onions and peppers. Drizzle a heavy amount of Greek garlic yogurt on there, and you have yourself an extra savoury dish that will hit all your taste buds.

There’s a lot more to explore on the Maro’s menu, and we haven’t even touched on the atmosphere. Expect it to be busy and loud, with Maro himself serving tables, chatting with customers, and making his way back and forth between their sister restaurant Narenj. It’s safe to say that Maro’s has become an Oakville institution – and if you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for!?

The Poop Café is one of the more interesting cafés in Oakville, and it won’t take you long to figure out why.

Every bowl, cup, and plate is a toilet with some kind of poop-shaped dessert inside. This café’s theme allows for some hysterically creative menu items. For example, a portion of their menu is titled ‘Hot Shit’. These are coffees, lattes and teas put in a toilet shaped mug. It may look strange, but you’ll find that these drinks are delicious once you gather the courage to take a sip.

Vietnamese Coffee, Japanese Milk Tea, and Iced Coffee

Poop Café’s milkshakes are called ‘Poopshakes’. Don’t worry, there’s no special ingredient in it. They have a dozen different flavours including Oreo, Black Sesame, and Green Tea.

A proud employee pointing to their Poopshakes

The ‘DooDoo Waffle’ is made in a special Hong Kong style, which means it’s warm, soft, and melts in your mouth. You could also get the traditional Hong Kong waffle without the doodoo shape, but that’s just not as fun.

Poop Café also has boba tea! They have a wide array of Milk Tea and Fruit Tea options. Below is an image of their delicious Strawberry Matcha Latte.

In 1967, Toronto Argonauts’ All Star Centre Norm “Stoney” Stoneburgh announced his retirement. Norm’s son, Blake Stoneburgh, opened Stoney’s Bread Company in 2004 to honour his father’s legacy.

Stoney’s Bread Company is known for their high quality bread. As such, it’s no surprise that their pizzas and sandwiches are top-sellers. All of their ingredients are bought fresh from local markets.

Apart from their bread, Stoney’s also provides healthy and nourishing salads. Packed with delicious flavours and ingredients, Stoney’s salads are far from ordinary. If you’re looking to make your salad more of an entree, you can choose from a range of protein options, including the Atlantic salmon seen below.

To add a little sweet to your savoury plans, try the Maple Glazed Salmon Salad.

Whether you’re an Argonaut’s fan or not, everyone is a fan of Pizza and Sandwiches. Stop by Stoney’s Bread Company for a hearty lunch!

There sure is something sweet about this Kerr Village confectionary – and it all started in a tiny home kitchen. In 2007, Erin Harris was baking everything from simple birthday cakes to feed five people, to elaborate tiered confections for hundreds. As the business grew, so did the need for more space. And in 2028, Erin and her husband, Scott, opened The Sweetest Thing’s flagship location in Kerr Village.

While Erin is still creating specialty cakes, her menu also includes a large selection of cookies, cupcakes, soft serve ice cream, and desserts (all showcased beautifully at their front counter). Customer’s love their seasonal offerings, hot drinks, and delicious take home treats. Open 6 days a week, The Sweetest Thing is the spot to fulfill a craving.

Jane and Cory met in the restaurant business in 2004 and married in 2006. Since then, they’ve always had the desire to open a new restaurant with a unique but inviting atmosphere! When their daughter Addison arrived in June 2011, they decided to go through with their dream and open J.A.C’s (Jane, Addison, and Cory).

J.A.C’s menu fuses Italian and French cuisine, from slow cooking to a quick sizzle. With many options to choose from, including their award-winning slow-roasted Tomato Soup, Veal Bolognese, and AAA Steak Frites. Settle into their warm dining room, order your favourite glass of wine, and enjoy the rustic flavours of their menu.
